I started off by practicing with glow sticks. A close friend of mine, who was
into the rave scene, started teaching me how to use them. He introduced me to
BOF, and I started to attend practice every Monday night. Over the years I kept
practicing with BOF and my friend to merge their two different styles, to
create something that came naturally to me. During this whole time I was also
in JROTC, so I took what I had learned from exhibition drill (spinning weapons)
and applied it to fire staffs. I was introduced to double fire staffs by
Vertigo, and they have been my toys of choice since then. I enjoy watching
other people spin because each fire dancer has something unique about their
style that is beautiful to watch. One day I hope to turn on my TV to watch fire
groups from all around the world compete in the Olympics Games.
